CIGRE - SEERC

HRO CIGRE is part of the international CIGRE community — the umbrella organisation headquartered in Paris and its South East European Regional Council (SEERC), of which the Croatian National Committee is an active member.

CIGRE

CIGRE (Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Électriques), the International Council on Large Electric Systems, is a professional association headquartered in Paris with members on all five continents. It brings together 58 national committees and more than 12,000 members from over 90 countries.

The work of CIGRE covers the development, construction, operation and maintenance of power facilities and their components, carried out through study committees, professional events and national committees. Every even year CIGRE holds its large session in Paris, where around 250 papers from the scope of all study committees are discussed, while in odd years a symposium is held in a member country — in 2007 one such symposium took place in Zagreb under the title "Transient Phenomena in Large Electric Power Systems".

CIGRE Science & Engineering

CIGRE Science & Engineering (CSE) is the peer-reviewed technical journal of the international CIGRE. It publishes scientific and professional papers from all areas of electric power engineering, with the electronic edition available in open access at cse.cigre.org.

SEERC

The CIGRE South East European Regional Council (SEERC) was founded — building on shared interests and earlier informal cooperation — by the CIGRE national committees of Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Ukraine. The council was formed in accordance with the CIGRE Statutes and officially recognised by the CIGRE Administrative Council at its meeting in Kazan in September 2013.

SEERC objectives

  • strengthening the role of the individual national committees in the region,
  • increasing CIGRE activity across a wider geographical context and deepening the interaction between experts from the countries of the region,
  • promoting events (conferences, panels and similar) with lower financial risk and higher attendance than those run by individual national committees,
  • promoting the idea of and supporting the development of new national committees in the region,
  • encouraging new regional activities aligned with the new energy policy and major regional energy projects.

The South East European region is home to more than 200 million people and holds great potential for accelerated development of the power sector. Topics of shared interest among the region's national committees include network planning and development, modernisation and the adoption of advanced technologies, asset management, the design of the regional electricity market, and the new European energy direction towards sustainable development.
