A1 – Rotating electrical machines

Study Committee A1 operates within the Croatian National Committee of CIGRE (HRO CIGRE), following the international CIGRE study-committee taxonomy. Its goal is to enable and promote the advancement of engineering and the international exchange of information and knowledge in its field.

A1 – Rotating electrical machines

Mission

To enable and promote the advancement of engineering and the international exchange of information and knowledge in the field of electromechanical energy conversion realised by rotating machines and associated equipment in energy production and consumption, by providing a complete E2E forum covering all aspects of the equipment life cycle, including the impact of their operating environment. To add value to this information and knowledge by synthesising state-of-the-art practices and developing recommendations.

Scope

Study Committee A1 covers all aspects of equipment for electromechanical energy conversion, rotating electrical machines for electricity generation, grid support and energy conversion in industrial applications. This includes the research, development, design, manufacture and testing of equipment for electricity generation and electromechanical energy conversion and the associated auxiliary devices, commissioning, operation, condition assessment, maintenance, life extension, refurbishment, upgrading, efficiency improvement, conversion, storage and decommissioning.

Within this framework, additional specific areas are:

  • Theory, principles and concepts, functionality, technological development, design, performance and application of materials and efficiency.
  • Manufacturing, quality assurance, application of guidelines, planning, siting, construction, assembly and installation.
  • Reliability, availability, safety, maintainability and maintenance, servicing, condition monitoring, diagnostics, refurbishment, repair, loading, upgrading and improvements.
  • Reconstruction, reuse/repurposing, ageing, dismantling and disposal.
