Study Committee D2 operates within the Croatian National Committee of CIGRE (HRO CIGRE), following the international CIGRE study-committee taxonomy. Its goal is to enable and promote the advancement of engineering and the international exchange of information and knowledge in its field.

D2 – Information systems and telecommunication

Mission

To enable and promote the advancement of engineering and the international exchange of information and knowledge in the field of information systems and telecommunications. Through the synthesis of contemporary practice and the development of recommendations, to add new value to the existing knowledge in this field.

Scope

Application of current and future information and communication technologies (ICT) in the continuously evolving value chain of the power system. ICT equipment, architectures, security and management, including consideration of aspects of fundamental principles, design, specification, test methods, commissioning, performance, operation and maintenance.

Areas of particular focus are:

  • Application of information and communication technologies to digital networks across the entire power system chain, including smart meters, energy management systems (EMS), the Internet of Things (IoT), big data technology.
  • Communication solutions for the exchange of information between all stakeholders in the power system.
  • Cybersecurity at all levels, from equipment in facilities to the business IT system, including constraint management, system design, implementation, testing, operation and maintenance.
  • IT systems that support the decision-making process in asset management.
