About CIGRE
CIGRE (Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Électriques), the International Council on Large Electric Systems, is a professional association headquartered in Paris with members on all five continents. Today it brings together 58 member countries — national committees — and more than 12,000 members: scientists, academics, engineers, technicians and suppliers from over 90 countries.
The work of CIGRE covers electric power systems and their components — the development, construction, operation and maintenance of power facilities and their parts.
Scope of activity
CIGRE operates through three interconnected modes of work:
- Study committees — the core technical bodies in which leading experts, through working groups, address individual areas of electric power engineering.
- Professional events — conferences, symposia, colloquia and round tables for the exchange of technical papers and experience.
- National committees — associations that follow the organisation and scope of CIGRE within an individual country.
The Croatian National Committee
The Croatian National Committee of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (HRO CIGRE) has been a member of CIGRE since 1951 as the successor to JUKO CIGRE, and gained the status of an independent member in 1992. HRO CIGRE fully follows the organisation and scope of CIGRE, as required of every national committee. It comprises 16 study committees and 6 sections.
Today HRO CIGRE brings together 755 individual and 85 collective members from all segments of the Croatian electric power sector.
